Our core support is offered via monthly meetings, normally held on the second Monday of every month in Great Ashby, Stevenage. Please contact one of our befrienders for more information by emailing northherts@sandsvolunteer.org.uk 

If you cannot attend on a Monday evening please do contact us and we will do our best to support you remotely or help you find an alternative Sands support group (e.g. East Herts, Bedford etc)

Many people find that being in the company of other parents who have shared a similar experience can be comforting. Whatever the circumstances of your bereavement you would be made very welcome at our meetings. Everyone who attends has suffered a loss, and there are similarities and differences in all our experiences. We are very sensitive and espectful of this. Everything that is said in our meetings is private and confidential.

The support meetings are facilitated by a trained Sands befriender. If you have not attended a meeting before, but would like to come along, you would be very welcome. All you have to do is turn up. You do not need to share any details if you do not wish to. You are very welcome to bring a friend along to support you if you need to.

You are welcome to contact our befrienders in advance and speak to them in advance of the meetings. All meetings are subject to the availability of our volunteers and we recommend you join our facebook group or make contact via email in case of any changes to the above dates.

We have a Family Group which meets approximately quarterly in Hitchin.  Everyone is welcome to attend this social group for all the family. There are usually some games or craft activities to keep the children occupied while the gornw ups chat. You do not have to have children to attend - grandparents, grown up siblings, bereaved parents expecting again after a loss - all are welcome.

While befrienders often do attend, we would encourage you to attend our Monthly Support Group if you need support for your bereavement.
